Omantel is strengthening resilience and long-term growth through regional expansion and revenue diversification, while enhancing In-Country Value (ICV) in line with Oman Vision 2040. This includes investing in digital infrastructure such as the National Cloud, developing Omani talent, supporting local suppliers and SMEs, and enabling participation in the broader value chain. Through its networks, ICT solutions, and international partnerships, Omantel drives productivity, localises advanced technologies, and fosters innovation, while initiatives such as SME workshops further support entrepreneurship and economic development.

Innovation Labs

Since its launch in 2021, Omantel Innovation Labs has grown into a national platform supporting innovation across high-growth and targeted sectors such as artificial intelligence, IoT, 5G, cybersecurity, fintech, big data and CX Tech. With 10,000+ registered users in the entrepreneur database, 80+ startups supported, 400+ jobs created, and a growing focus on investment and commercialization, the Labs are advancing Oman’s innovation landscape by leveraging the capabilities of Omantel and its partners.

In 2025, the Labs continued to strengthen its role in enabling startups, fostering entrepreneurship, and contributing to Oman’s digital economy. The Omantel Innovation Labs model combines targeted programs, access to Omantel’s digital infrastructure, and investment pathways. This integrated approach enables founders to develop scalable solutions while connecting them to partners, customers, and funding opportunities.

Ecosystem Development

In 2025, Innovation Labs continued to expand its contribution to Oman’s innovation ecosystem by fostering collaboration, enabling access, and strengthening stakeholder engagement.

Key ecosystem achievements include:

  • 41 startups supported across priority sectors, including ICT, fintech, logistics, GreenTech, Cyber Security and Healthcare.
  • Engagement of 120+ founders and entrepreneurs through structured programs, mentorship, and events
  • Establishment of strategic partnerships with corporates, government entities, and academic institutions including STC. The strategic collaboration agreement with STC marks a key milestone in strengthening innovation and startup ecosystem collaboration enabling high-potential startups from Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to access cross-regional opportunities.
  • Facilitation of 10 pilot projects and deployments, enabling startups to test and validate solutions in real market environments

  • Contribution to the creation of 280+ jobs, supporting local talent development and economic participation. bringing the total to 400+ jobs created across all startups supported since launch.

Through these efforts, Innovation Labs has contributed to building a more connected and collaborative ecosystem, where startups are supported not only in their early stages but throughout their growth journey.

The increasing number of startups progressing to commercialization and funding stages reflects a maturing and sustainable innovation environment in Oman.

Innovation Enablement

Innovation Labs delivers a structured portfolio of programs and platforms designed to support startups across different stages of development, while aligning with emerging technology trends and national priorities.

2025 Programs

In 2025, the Labs delivered a series of high-impact programs:

  • Omantel Accelerator, supporting startups scale through mentorship, access to Omantel’s infrastructure, market opportunities and potential funding. Cohort 5 and 6 took place in 2025 with cohort 6 successfully soft-landing 3 global startups in Oman from Singapore, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
  • Launchpad Program, an entry-level startup program enabling early-stage founders to validate ideas, build MVPs, and prepare for investment.
  • ASYAD – Omantel Logistics Accelerator, focused on enabling innovation in supply chain and logistics through AI and IoT-based solutions
  • AI National Hackathon, in partnership with Omani Rising Startups, the labs managed and executed an AI hackathon, with 8 winning teams incubated at the Innovation Labs.
  • Fikra: Omantel’s corporate innovation program designed specifically for employees incubated a record number of 10 employee-owned startups.

These programs collectively create a pipeline that supports startups from ideation through to scaling, ensuring alignment with both market needs and future technology directions.

Investment and Commercial Impact

Investment remains a core pillar of the Innovation Labs model, ensuring that high-potential startups have access to the capital required to grow and scale.

In 2025:

  • 14 startups received investment through Omantel Ventures
  • X 1,907,254, total investment deployed in different sectors
  • Startups progressed from early-stage development to commercial deployment and revenue generation
  • Expansion into venture capital capabilities strengthened the continuity of funding across the startup lifecycle

Beyond funding, Innovation Labs plays a critical role in enabling commercialization by connecting startups to real market opportunities. Through pilot projects, partnerships, and integration within Omantel’s ecosystem, startups are able to validate their solutions and scale more effectively.

This integrated approach, combining funding with market access and infrastructure, ensures that startups are not only funded but also positioned for long-term success and sustainability.

Start-up Portfolio

Omantel supports start-ups beyond funding by providing access to affordable cloud solutions, digital infrastructure, and fintech integrations that enable scalable growth. Through OPEX-based models, businesses can leverage cybersecurity, cloud hosting, and AI-driven analytics without significant upfront investment. Its API marketplace further facilitates seamless integration of digital payments, customer engagement tools, and embedded financial services.
